Clothes for a cause – ending Human Trafficking

All I want for Christmas

Every Christmas, we get caught up in the commercial side of things and it’s easy to do. I’m definitely guilty of it.  During this time of the year, there are also several other holidays being celebrated and those being Hanukkah and Kwanza to name a few. To those celebrating these holidays, I wish you all happy holidays!

This Christmas though, it would be nice to place a greater emphasis on returning to the true meaning of the holiday. For those who may not know, Christmas is the time of year that Christians choose to celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, who was born of a Virgin named Mary and was found by wise men, wrapped in cloth, lying in a manger because there was no room for him in the inn. For Christians, Christmas marks the beginning (in human form), of God’s redemption plan for humanity. We give gifts because it serves as symbol of the three gifts of frankincense, gold and myrrh, the wise men brought Jesus.

And although gifts are great and help spread the cheer and joy and goodwill during the season, this Christmas, speaking purely to Christians, if we choose to celebrate Christmas, my hope is that we don’t forget it’s true meaning and our reason for celebrating it.
